The Zanpa Ino is the shallow reef flat stretching along Zanpa Beach in Yomitan Village, and it’s been quietly suffering for years from coral bleaching and shifting ocean conditions. The organization running this event, the Okinawa Churaumi Educational School, has decided that sad Instagram posts about dying reefs aren’t enough — they’d rather put people in the water and actually do something about it.
