The beat of the taiko drums is about to take over Kitanakagusuku! On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Kitanakagusuku Youth Eisa Festival Pre-Festival will be held for the very first time at Lower Plaza. This high-energy event is the perfect warm-up leading into the big Kitanakagusuku Festival & Youth Eisa Festival 2025, which kicks off on October 11–12.

What’s Happening 🎶
This pre-festival gathers local youth associations from Kitanakagusuku, including Nakajun, Atsuta, and Kishaba. Each group will bring their own style of Eisa—a traditional Okinawan dance performed with powerful taiko drums. The rhythm, the chanting, and the energy of the performers will make you feel the ground shake beneath your feet.
And because no Okinawan festival is complete without food and drinks, the Kitanakagusuku Chamber of Commerce Youth Division will be grilling up yakitori and pouring ice-cold beer 🍺. Perfect combo, right?
Why You Should Go 🤔
Think of this as the appetizer before the main course. Once you experience the energy of this pre-festival, you’ll be counting the days until the full celebration in October. It’s a chance to feel the heartbeat of Okinawan culture, enjoy a night out with family or friends, and maybe even eat more yakitori than you planned.
So grab your crew, head to Lower Plaza, and let the taiko drums do the talking.
