The biggest party in Ginowan is back! The 48th Goromo Festival is happening at Ginowan Seaside Park Multipurpose Square, and it’s bringing everything from live music to dance competitions to a firework finale that’ll make your in-laws forget about nagging you for at least 10 minutes.

What’s Going On
September 27 (Sat) – Exciting Stage Only
The “Goromo Exciting Stage” kicks things off with a lineup that includes Nozoi Ōgane with DJ Reiko, Ginowan da Brothers, Shishino Odoshi, and Southern Band Okinawa.
Warning: no fireworks tonight, so don’t show up with your camera tripod expecting to become Okinawa’s next Instagram star.

September 28 (Sun) – The Main Event + Fireworks
This is the day everyone waits for—the 33rd Tobinsu Haninsu Kachāshī Contest. Imagine a giant dance-off with colorful costumes, wild makeup, and everyone trying to out-dance each other in Okinawa’s signature celebratory dance. It’s loud, joyful, and about as subtle as your uncle after three Orion beers.
And then the grand finale: the Goromo Fireworks Festival. Huge starmines burst over the park, lighting up the night sky. This is the kind of fireworks show where you’ll feel guilty for ever clapping for a sparkler.

Why It’s Called Goromo
The name comes from the local legend of a celestial maiden who descended to bathe in the spring “Mori-no-Kawa” in Mashiki, Ginowan. Basically, it’s Okinawa’s version of “a goddess came down, left her clothes behind, and people never stopped talking about it.”
Two days of music, dance, food, and fireworks. Whether you’re here for the stage acts, the wild dance contest, or just to sit back and judge other people’s outfits, this festival is Ginowan at its finest.
