Looking for a delightful way to honor peace and celebrate happiness? Mark your calendars for the 21st Peace Memorial Koi Nobori Festival, happening from May 2 to May 6, 2025! This colorful event will be taking place at the stunning Okinawa Prefectural Peace Memorial Park in Itoman City. Trust me, it’s going to be a blast! 🌈
A Bit of History 🕊️
Eighty years ago, World War II came to an end, and it’s important to remember the stories and sacrifices of those who fought for our peace. The festival aims to honor their memory by raising gorgeous koi nobori (carp streamers) to symbolize joy, health, and a longing for world peace. Let’s celebrate the vibrant spirit of Okinawa while reflecting on these important themes!

Event Highlights 🎉
The opening day kicks off on May 2nd at 10 a.m. with a ceremony that’ll warm your heart! Throughout the event, you can enjoy beautiful handmade koi nobori crafted by local preschoolers. How adorable is that? Plus, keep an eye out for the gigantic koi nobori that stretch an impressive 6 meters! Talk about a sight for sore eyes! 😍
Make sure you swing by on May 5th (a holiday, yay!) when various prefectures will proudly display koi nobori at their respective memorial towers. It’s like a koi nobori army in the sky celebrating peace together!

Important Information
When: May 2 (Friday) to May 6 (Tuesday, substitute holiday)

Just a little heads up: depending on the weather, the raising of the koi nobori might be called off. So, keep your fingers crossed for sunny skies!
Now that you’re all set, grab your family, friends, and anyone who loves a good time, and head on over to this colorful celebration. Let’s honor peace and the next generation’s happiness together! 💖
