Get ready for two days of pure chaos, culture, craft beer, and people yelling “YAGUIII!” at socially unacceptable volumes. Welcome to the Uruma City Industry Festival—a place where families have fun, dads get too excited about excavators, and someone inevitably tries to win a prize by screaming louder than their in-laws on PCS week.

What’s Going On
Uruma City decided one venue wasn’t enough, so this festival sprawls across Aeon Gushikawa, Uruma Marche, Xebio Uruma, the East Pier, and the Suzaki district. Basically, if you stand anywhere in Uruma that weekend, a festival will appear behind you.
At Aeon Gushikawa—the main battlefield—there’s a full stage lineup.
Day 1 features music and comedy in Okinawan dialect, perfect for showing off to your friends that you “totally understand Shimakutuba now” (you don’t).
Day 2 brings the legendary Yagui Competition. This is where people yell the bull-handler call “Yagui!” with all the intensity of someone who just found out their COLA dropped again. Judging is based on volume, acting commitment, and overall hilarity. Winners get fancy prizes and probably temporary voice loss.
Craft booths by local artisans let you try traditional crafts. Great for families or anyone pretending they’re naturally artistic.
Over at Uruma Marche, the grown-ups get their own special program: Uruma meat + Uruma craft beer. This is a responsible pairing because one balances out the other—emotionally.
The East Pier takes things up a notch with a rare chance to tour a Japan Coast Guard patrol ship. You need to apply in advance, and it’s lottery-based. If you don’t win, there’s still a Coast Guard display at Aeon Gushikawa, so no need to cry into your taco rice.
There are also working vehicle exhibits—police cars, fire trucks, excavators—all the stuff kids adore and adults secretly adore even more.
If you shop at participating venues and collect five stickers, you can join a prize lottery. Yes, this festival even gamifies shopping. Okinawa knows its audience.
