What’s Happening
Uruma is said to be the birthplace of Eisa, and the city is home to youth associations that have been keeping the tradition alive for over 100 years. This festival brings them all together in one place, so you can watch everything from classic Ryukyu-era Eisa to modern Eisa with a twist.
Groups like the legendary Heshikiya Youth Association, which has been dancing since the time of the Ryukyu Kingdom, will be performing alongside many other associations and community groups. Each team has its own style, from costumes to choreography, so no two performances are ever the same.
And just when you think it can’t get any livelier, the festival wraps up each night with kachaashii—the free-spirited Okinawan dance that everyone joins in. Yes, even you after a few Orion beers.

Parking and Access
There’s no general parking at the venue (because life loves a challenge), but don’t worry—there are temporary parking areas with free shuttle buses running straight to the festival.
