Okinawa summer is no joke—hot, humid, and likely to melt your will to move. But guess what? There’s a way to survive it without turning into a puddle. Just head to Kin Dam on Sunday, July 20 for the 9th Kin Dam Festival!
This event is packed with family-friendly chaos, soaking wet adventures, and enough random experiences to make your in-laws say, “Well, that was unexpected.”

🎢 Water You Waiting For?
First off, there’s a giant inflatable water park. It’s huge. Think of it as your personal water-cooler of happiness in this sauna of a season. Bring your floaties, bring your balls (inflatable ones, people), and go wild. They even have those giant water balloons you can walk in—because why not walk like a hamster across a lake?
And yes, it’s not just for the kids. Adults can join too, so parents, stop pretending to “watch from the shade” and jump in.
🧭 Adventures of the Weird and Wonderful Kind
This ain’t your average festival. We’re talking:
- A giant maze so big you might question your life choices halfway through.
- A ride on a real water buffalo cart—because Okinawa.
- A peaceful canoe ride, in case you need a calm moment to recover from the kids going full chaos mode.
Want to impress your future self? Try the Mangrove Exploration Tour or join the Plant Discovery Team—yes, it’s a thing, and yes, it’s more fun than it sounds.

🎨 DIY Summer Bragging Rights
If your kids need a summer project (or you need a break), there’s stained glass crafting and flip-flop art workshops. That’s right—make art using island-style sandals. Take that, Pinterest moms.
And if all else fails, just enjoy the free boat rides and dam tours. Bonus: you’ll sound smart explaining how a trapezoidal CSG dam works. (Google it later.)
