Get ready for some serious drum-pounding, flag-waving, youth-powered fun in Kin Town! The 23rd Kin Town Youth Eisa Festival is coming back this summer, and it’s bringing the heat—and the fireworks! 🎆
This isn’t your grandma’s dance recital. Eisa started as a Buddhist dance to send off ancestral spirits during Obon, but over the centuries it evolved into Okinawa’s signature “let’s party with drums” kind of vibe. And now? It’s one of the loudest, proudest, most colorful cultural celebrations you’ll find on the island.

🥁 Who’s Dancing?
Starting at 6 PM on Sunday, July 13, five local youth groups from Kin Town will take the stage and absolutely go off. And they’re not doing it alone. Guest performers from Uruma City’s Esu Youth Association and Okinawa City’s Minamitobaru Youth Association are joining the lineup too.
Expect synchronized spinning, shouting, and taiko-smashing action—all while they carry their group flags like they’re leading an army of rhythm.

🎤 Who’s Hosting?
That would be Nicky, the beloved Okinawan-island-hybrid comedian who knows how to get a crowd going. Expect jokes, banter, and maybe a few surprise bits that’ll have the obaa-chans giggling and the kids rolling.
🍗 What’s Cooking?
You didn’t think they’d let you go hungry, did you? Food stalls and kitchen trucks will be out in full force. Grab some yakitori, stuff your face with kakigōri, and pretend it’s for the kids while you hoard the fried Okinawan donuts.
