Desmond Liang
Desmond Liang is a local artist in Okinawa who attended art school from a young age and has experience working as a graphic and web designer in China, Canada and the US. He founded Oki Social, where he designs and produces Okinawa-focused arts and gifts that are sold in shops and cafes on the island and internationally.
Desmond’s artworks have been selected for the OkiTen exhibition, Okinawa’s largest art exhibition, for five years and he published a picture book, Happiness in Okinawa, that has sold worldwide. His art covers a variety of styles, and his latest collection, 12 Months of Okinawa, is a series of freehand drawings created digitally on an iPad.
Desmond’s lessons at the Kadena Art and Crafts Center are suitable for both beginners and established artists who wish to make a living from their creations.
