Winter in Okinawa doesn’t really do “quiet.” Just when you think it’s business as usual, Yaese Park lights up with deep pink cherry blossoms, lanterns on the stairs, and a festival that casually includes a footbath because… why not.
The 19th Yaese Sakura Festival runs from January 29 to February 8, 2026, and it’s one of those events that feels relaxed but secretly packed with things to do 🌸✨

Night Sakura With a Little Extra Glow
Once the clock hits 6:00 PM, the park shifts mood. Cherry blossoms are lit up, traditional lanterns line the stairways, and the whole place turns into a slow-walk, take-photos, forget-your-phone kind of scene 🌙🌸
It’s not loud. It’s not rushed. It’s the kind of atmosphere that makes you stay longer than planned.
A Scenic Footbath (Yes, Really)
Up at the observation deck, there’s a free footbath waiting. Soak your feet, look out over illuminated cherry trees, and question why this isn’t standard at every festival ♨️🌸
Just bring a towel and you’re good to go. No ticket, no reservation, no awkward explanations needed.
Weekends Are for Animals and Wandering
On Saturdays and Sundays, a petting zoo rolls in 🐐🐇
It’s perfect for families, but honestly, adults tend to enjoy it just as much. Add in a stamp rally with prizes, and suddenly “just a quick walk” becomes a full afternoon.
Special Stage Day on February 1
Sunday, February 1, is when the stage events go all out 🎭
Expect comedy performances by Okinawa-based entertainers, traditional Kumiodori dance, and even monkey performances. It’s a mix that somehow works, like a variety show that wandered into a cherry blossom festival and decided to stay.
