Get your yukata ready, because Yonabaru Town is about to turn into one big summer party! The 15th Yukata Festival in Yonakohama is rolling into Yonakohama Park on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
This isn’t just any festival – it started thanks to the Yonabaru District Social Dining & Entertainment Association’s mission to “revitalize the town.” Fast forward to today, and it’s become a vibrant summer tradition that attracts visitors from all over Okinawa.

👘 What’s a Yukata, Anyway?
If you’re new to Japan or just wondering why everyone looks like they stepped out of a historical drama – a yukata is a casual summer kimono. It’s usually made of lightweight cotton, perfect for hot, sticky evenings. You’ll see them at summer festivals, fireworks shows, and basically anywhere people want to feel traditional while still being able to breathe. Bonus: they make festival selfies about 300% more photogenic.
👘 Why You Shouldn’t Miss It
Because summer festivals in Okinawa aren’t just about food and fun – they’re about community, tradition, and looking fabulous while you sweat through 80% humidity. And let’s be honest: everything tastes better when you’re eating it in a yukata.
